In the party T-shirt story The Girls and PikkuBambi, graphic design is combined with traditional storytelling as well as the creators’ shared passion for Helsinki’s dance culture and club scene. The story on the T-shirt is a remix-style combination—borrowed from record playing and mixing—of the old folktale Ivan and the Gray Wolf, the designers’ own experiences, and the experiences of a fictional party girl duo in the northern night. The work examines how the introverted and grey Helsinki secretly transforms at night into a wild city full of life. It celebrates the contrast of this underbelly and also functions as a tribute to friendship, partying, and throwing oneself into the moment, at a time when many do not seem to dare to “dance like nobody’s watching.”

The project consisted of the narrative T-shirt...
...storybook paperbag packaging...
...and a series of Instagram posts illustrating scenes from the story.
The story was “published” at Post Bar, where we sold them at the corners of the dancefloor, bar, and smoking area from a totebag.
